Pollinator Oasis
The bee app that knows when to be quiet.
Pollinator Oasis is Crown Bees' companion app for raising Spring Mason bees, Summer Leafcutter bees, and wild cavity-nesting bees at home. It doesn't nag you on a calendar. It watches real weather and bloom conditions, and speaks up only when your bees actually need something from you.

The idea behind it
Solitary bees are seasonal and episodic — long stretches of nothing to do, followed by short windows where timing really matters. Most apps are built to be opened often. We built this one to be quiet most of the year, and right the few times it matters.
That's the whole measure of success for us: not how often you open the app, but whether it told you the truth about what to do — which, most of the time, is nothing at all.
How it works
Instead of reminding you by the date, Pollinator Oasis tracks your local weather and bloom conditions and tells you what stage your bees are actually in — then notifies you only when a real biological window opens: release, harvest, protection, or storage.
Spring Mason bees are released when blooms are open and daytime temperatures hold consistently around 55°F (13°C) — not on a fixed date. Emergence can take up to three weeks, so the app helps you release in stages as your bees are ready.
Summer Leafcutter bees run on their own track, emerging around a steady 75°F (24°C) and typically finished nesting once temperatures cool to about 60°F (15°C).
This condition-based approach — not date-based — is what makes Pollinator Oasis different from a generic reminder app.
Why solitary bees
Solitary bees are gentle, non-territorial, and make up about 90% of the world's roughly 20,000 bee species. Unlike honey bees, they live alone rather than in a hive, and they're remarkably effective pollinators, visiting far more flowers per trip. They're safe to raise around kids and pets, and a great entry point into hands-on pollinator conservation.
What's in the app
Home — your at-a-glance status: what stage your bees are in and whether anything needs your attention right now.
Bees & Bloom — local weather and bloom tracking behind the scenes, so the app's guidance is grounded in what's actually happening outside your door.
Ask — get questions answered, beginner to experienced.
My Bees — track your mason, leafcutter, and wild cavity-nesting bees individually, with guidance specific to each type's emergence conditions, nesting materials, cavity sizes, and cocoon-handling needs.
My Garden — connect your bee-raising to the blooms that support them.
Received bees as a gift? Activate with a gift code and your inventory is set up for you automatically.
Built on the BeeSafe™ Standard
Every recommendation in the app is grounded in Crown Bees' BeeSafe™ Standard: removable, openable nesting materials; correctly sized cavities; protective housing; and seasonal care — harvest, inspect, clean, and refresh materials each year. It mirrors how nests naturally cycle in the wild, so your bee housing stays healthy rather than becoming a pest reservoir.
A community, not just an app
Crown Bees has been building a community of everyday "bee raisers" since 2008 — through healthy bees, well-designed housing, and education. Pollinator Oasis extends that into an ongoing seasonal relationship with your bees, not a one-time purchase. A first-year learning curve is normal and expected. Harvest parties and sharing cocoons with neighbors are part of the fun.
